What We Look For In A Tutor

1. Proven Understanding Of Curriculum
Highly knowledgeable in the content they tutor.
While not the only important aspect of tutoring, a detailed understanding of subject knowledge is paramount to the beginnings of a great tutor. We only hire local tutors who have completed their Queensland Certificate, so you can expect a tutor who is very familiar with the requirements and expectations of the Queensland Curriculum.
All potential tutors are tested on their content knowledge during the hiring period to ensure they know the content well enough to teach it. Each staff member is also given an array of resources they can use to ensure they can be prepared before every session.
2. Confident Communication Ability
Able to take complex ideas and make them seem simple.
Simply knowing content is not enough to tutor, if they can’t communicate those ideas to a student in a way that makes sense to them. All our tutors are taught a methodology of working backward from the initial issues a student has.
After discovering the root cause of the issue, they can attempt to convey the correct knowledge in a personalised manner for the student’s unique learning style. The beauty of one-on-one tutoring is that the student has the tutor’s undivided attention and care, and therefore, can tailor lessons specifically to what your child needs.

To do this, we ensure our tutors are armed with the ability to foster genuine student-tutor relationships that leave students looking forward to every session.
Above all else, this is how each tutor is selected. The core idea is “Does this person care?”, and we make sure they care for the wellbeing of every student they work with.
In addition to these, we look for tutors who:
- Have graduated from High School with a Queensland Certificate
- You're a local and have the ability to work in Australia
- Have a working with children check (Blue Card – paid work) or willing to obtain one
- Have drivers license and access to a vehicle
- Completed High School in Australia (for curriculum purposes)
- Have an existing ABN or be willing to obtain one – all Stress Less Tutors work as subtractors and ABN is required to receive pay
- Are willing to commit to a minimum of 6 months
- Genuinely care about making a difference in the lives of students

Highly Competitive Industry Pay Rate
Our tutors can earn up to double what you would normally receive working a standard retail job. We pay our tutors a starting rate of $35 p/hr and pay up to $45 p/hr once you’ve gained more experience.
Consistent Training And Support
